OKX Philippines and Connect Web3 Philippines threw a high-energy community bash where local leaders, KOLs, and builders showed how Web3 fun fuels future tech.
The scent of pizza mixed with the buzz of blockchain as Davao City hosted one of the liveliest Bitcoin Pizza Day celebrations in the Philippines this year. Held on May 31 at 199x Coffee + Bar, the event was organized by Connect Web3 Philippines and powered by OKX Philippines.
Leading the charge was Connect Web3 Philippines CEO Ken Berdz Berry, whose emphasis on unity and fun set the tone for the night.
“We know that working in Web3 space is stressful, and I want to change that vibe into more educational purposes, with music and sometimes fun.”
Far from your average crypto panel, this gathering emphasized community, connection, and a healthy dose of fun. With leaders from across the Web3 space in attendance, it wasn’t just about commemorating Bitcoin’s historic pizza transaction; it was also about making new memories.
KOLs, Devs, Founders, and DJs: A Full Web3 Roll Call
The guest list read like a who's who of Philippine crypto. Rod Albores, founder of Reverion Tech, stood out for his pioneering work integrating blockchain into local government systems.

Meanwhile, Web3 Davao co-founder Rjay Solamo, now also a growth partner at The Block and Beyond, helped energize the crowd.

We also bumped into trading DJ Niel Recinto, who’s as known for his charts as he is for his charisma. Influencers and industry staples like Tony Rebamonte, Robert Uy, and Shankar made rounds, connecting with fans and peers alike.
Chesa Anoya and OKX Philippines Community and Growth Manager Kresta Nadine were also spotted at the event, adding to the star-studded community turnout.
Games of Gains and Losses
One of the night’s highlights was a game emceed by Connect Web3 Philippines CEO Ken Berdz Berry. Shankar recounted the moment in a Facebook post, describing how he won a laptop bag by showing the first OKX wallet with a USD balance of just $1.79.
"The law of attraction works," he joked after the win.
The second round of games got even wilder. Berry challenged attendees to show the biggest trading loss in their OKX wallet. Shankar won again with a whopping -$13,601.07 USD, earning him three shirts and three pairs of socks. The crowd roared with laughter as Berry quipped,
"If you have the biggest loss, that must mean you have some big gains, too!"
Shankar simply smirked, “Secret,” and the crowd went wild.
Why Vibes Matter
For Berry, the fun wasn’t just for show. When asked about leadership and why community-focused events like these matter, he said:
"That's the essence of being a great leader, knowing how to bring the Web3 community together as one."
While most people know crypto events for being seminars and lectures, Davao’s Bitcoin Pizza Day showcased a side of Web3 that deserves more attention, simply bonding with like-minded individuals in a relaxed, celebratory setting.
Guests also had the chance for meaningful chats. One notable moment was a conversation with Johnny Forfar, DevRel at SovRun, who shared insights on AI, tech realities, and the developer ecosystem in the Philippines.
As the last slice of pizza disappeared and the final beats played out, it was clear this wasn’t just a celebration, it was a declaration. Davao is staking its claim as a future hub for blockchain innovation.
"Davao City is not just living in the future; the community here will build for the future."
The event also came with an assurance from OKX Community and Growth Manager Kresta Nadine, it won't be the last OKX event in Davao City.
